Enlargement and justice and home affairs the main themes at the European Council

The European Council meeting took place in Brussels on 14 and 15 December. The first working session of the Council on Thursday was devoted to the area of Freedom, Security and Justice with the aim of confirming the commitment to strengthen decision-making. There was also an exchange of views on migration.
Over dinner, the Heads of State or Government discussed the outcome of the consultations on the Constitutional Treaty and enlargement. The Foreign Ministers exchanged views on the Middle East, Iran and Africa, in particular Sudan/Darfur.
On Friday, the working session was devoted to the discussion and adoption of the conclusions of the European Council.
