Kittilä

Levitunturi
The village of Sirkka is situated at the foot of the 531 metre high Levitunturi. (Hotel Levitunturi)

Kittilä is situated in Lapland, north of the Arctic Cirle and some 960 kilometres north of Helsinki. The population of the municipality with over 8,600 sq. kilometres is nearly 6,000.

Levitunturi which is a Presidency meeting venue is located some 18 kilometres north of the centre of Kittilä.  It lies some 150 kilometres from Rovaniemi near the Arctic Circle and about 80 kilometres from Kolari.

There are rail connections to Kittilä from Helsinki via Rovaniemi or Kolari and flight connections from Helsinki. Day trains take about nine and a half hours and night trains approximately 12 hours to Rovaniemi. There are train connections from the Helsinki railway station to Rovaniemi a few times per day and to Kolari on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Flights from Helsinki directly to Kittilä take about an hour and a half and flights to Rovaniemi approximately one hour and 20 minutes. Airlines operating at Rovaniemi Airport are Finnair, SAS/Blue1 and Aeroflot. Scheduled flights to Kittilä are operated by Finnair. Bus connections to Kittilä from various flights and trains vary and should be checked before a trip. Various connections are available also in the Journey.fi service.
