The aim of the meeting is to strengthen political and economic relations between the European Union and Ukraine. The summit will focus on bilateral relations between the European Union and Ukraine, including energy issues and the European Neighbourhood Policy, and key international issues. Another central aim is to assess how the initiatives launched at the EU-Ukraine Summit in 2005 have progressed.
The EU delegation will be led by Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen and the Ukrainian delegation by President Victor Yushchenko.
